Dubrovnik treasures

Petra, Aqaba, Jordan
Jesuit Church of St. Ignatius of Loyola, Dubrovnik

I was in the Old Town this morning, and to reach my destination I had to pass this magnificent church, the Jesuit Church of St. Ignatius of Loyola. Not being religious myself I would normally walk on by, but the weather, lack of tourists and peacefulness made me notice the baroque church more than usual. Looking back and seeing the church through a side street reminded me of my time in Petra, Jordan seeing the marvellous sight there of the Al Khazneh, "The Treasury".

3rd September 2009

I woke up this morning and flung open the shutters at 7.20am and was greeted by small ripples on the Adriatic together with a speedboat in the distance. Peace and quiet all around. Days like this I appreciate living on the coast (wait til winter and I will post a different story!!!)

Beautiful styling

I have just received in my inbox a newsletter from Lombok, the UK based mail order company for 'eastern inspired living'. I have mentioned them before, but love these colours on the bench. I go from extremes from loving all white interiors (calm, peaceful, uncluttered), to colourful with blues and greens. Am tempted to order something (that handbag!) from their catalogue as mum comes out end of June. Candles from only 5 GBP / 8 USD.

I Want That House!

There is a British TV programme called "I Want That House" - well this is it! Just what I want! I returned back to the Peljesac Peninsula today, 1 and a half hours drive from Dubrovnik to show this house. Great restoration of a countryside house with orchard, barn and lots of land. A lovely couple, he is a 'famous' food writer from Poland (equivalent to our Rick Stein?). A great day for showing properties with the weather on our side. I can just imagine him there writing about food sat amongst all this glorious nature. Best news too he wants to buy! ... so not for me.

Kobas, Peljesac Peninsula

Sailing and staying overnight in the little bay of Kobas on the Peljesac Peninsula, October 2008 was magical. Waking up to see this mirror-like sea was incredible. Just a few yachts around, several shacks of (great) casual fish restaurants, and best of all ... peace and quiet. A place to return to. In future posts I'll show some more sailing photos.
